Version Before Replacement

Living recordCurrent

Version 2 · Sep 26, 2026

What changed,
and why.

Reframed the family practice as an operational guide instead of an archive fragment.

All history

Keep the thing that worked before replacing it. Every meaningful change should say what changed, why, and what happened next.

A family rule for recipes, formulas, and repeatable practices: improve by adding a version, never by erasing the version that came before.

Method

  1. Keep the current version

Do not overwrite a tested recipe, formula, or practice when you want to change it.

  2. Create the next version

Save the new ingredients, amounts, method, or decision as a new immutable version.

  3. Say why

Record what changed and why the family wanted to try it.

  4. Record the result

After using it, preserve the observed result so the next decision starts from evidence.

Insider tips

  • The current published version can move forward; the old version remains readable.
