Strawberries: Harvest & Bed Notes

Living recordCurrent

Version 2 · Sep 27, 2026

What changed,
and why.

Restored this distinct growing topic with its actual observations, chronology, open questions and practical lessons. The earlier saved record remains in history. No current condition or successful outcome has been invented.

All history

A strong reported harvest, borage in the bed, and a later leaf-damage check.

A growing journal built from dated family observations. The latest report below is historical evidence, not a claim that the plant is in the same condition today. Plans and questions are kept separate from actions and outcomes.

Latest recorded state
  • July 14: Heather reported a very good harvest after a spring feeding, although some plants remained small.
  • July 19: borage was confirmed growing in the strawberry bed.
  • July 31: strawberry foliage had holes similar to damage on peach leaves. The pest and treatment outcome were not identified.
What we learned
  • The large harvest is a confirmed family observation; an exact yield is not.
  • Kelp, bone meal and mycorrhizal fungi were considered for future feeding, not all confirmed applied in this exchange.
  • A shared leaf-damage pattern is useful to record without assigning a cause.

The story so far

Dated observations, not assumptions about today.

A strong harvest

The patch had received the same spring fertilizer as the peony field and produced a large amount. The complete formulation, a measured yield and the reason some plants stayed small were not recorded.

Borage shares the bed

Heather clarified that borage was in the strawberry bed. Harvest questions did not establish that flowers or leaves were harvested or used.

Chewing on the foliage

Holes appeared in strawberry leaves and both new and older peach leaves. No insect identification, treatment or later outcome was reported.

Next steps & open questions
  • Record the next harvest by weight or container count.
  • Recover the actual fertilizer label and amounts before repeating a claimed formula.
  • Photograph the damage and any observed insects before adding a diagnosis.
Sources & what was completed

Record provenanceDated Heather growing observations, source sequences 299, 314, 331. Restored September 27, 2026 after unrelated garden records were inadvertently archived.

  • Restored growing notes from Heather's archived conversations. No medicinal-use instructions or unsupported plant diagnoses are included.
