Observe Before Declaring Cause

Living recordCurrent

Version 2 · Sep 26, 2026

What changed,
and why.

Converted the evidence principle into a clear four-part operating guide.

All history

Keep observation separate from explanation. Record what changed, what happened, and why we think it happened without turning a theory into fact.

This is how the family keeps experiments honest: observed, changed, outcome, and our best current explanation are different fields.

Method

  1. Observed

Write down what actually happened without explaining it yet.

  2. Changed

Record what was different from the prior batch, season, setup, or routine.

  3. Outcome

    Record the result that followed.

  4. Why we think it changed

Add the current explanation, clearly labeled as an interpretation until evidence supports it.

Insider tips

  • A promising pattern can guide the next experiment without being promoted to proven cause.
