Fire Cider: Finished Batch Note

Version 2Current

Version 2 · Sep 26, 2026

What changed,
and why.

Published as a finished-batch field note rather than a canonical recipe because the original formula is missing.

All history

Heather’s first confirmed finished batch was infused for four weeks, then strained, sweetened with honey, and refrigerated. The original ingredients and amounts were not recovered, so this is a process and outcome note—not a repeatable formula.

The fire cider was made at Myka’s around September 1 and finished on September 24 after a full four-week infusion. Heather strained the infusion, finished it with honey, and refrigerated it. Her first teaspoon was extremely hot, pungent, and intense. During infusion, shake the jar when passing it. On straining day, press or squeeze the solids firmly to recover the infused vinegar. Add honey gradually to taste, then refrigerate the finished cider. Because the original ingredient list and quantities are unavailable, do not use this note as a canonical recipe.

Recorded process

Historical steps only. Missing quantities must be resolved before this can be a repeatable formula.

  1. Infuse

Allow the prepared fire-cider mixture to infuse for four weeks, shaking the jar periodically.

  2. Strain

Strain the infusion and press or squeeze the solids firmly to recover the liquid.

  3. Finish with honey

Stir in honey gradually to taste.

  4. Refrigerate

Transfer the finished fire cider to a suitable container and refrigerate.

Safety & handling

  • Keep the finished fire cider refrigerated.
  • This record does not establish a shelf-stable preservation or canning process.

Insider tips

  • Shake the infusing jar periodically.
  • Squeeze the solids firmly on straining day.
  • Add honey gradually because the finished infusion may be exceptionally hot and pungent.
